Measuring Nigeria's progress towards a more productive, competitive and inclusive economy
An interactive platform from the Economic Transformation & Competitiveness Centre (ETC) of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG).
The Nigeria Economic Transformation Index assesses how Nigeria's economy has changed across five areas, the SCALE pillars: Structural Reallocation, Competitiveness, Absorptive capacity, Labour and External integration.
It tracks productivity, firm capability, competitiveness, exports and employment, and asks whether those changes are moving Nigeria towards stronger economic transformation over time.
- Growth does not automatically translate into economic transformation: GDP can rise while productivity, competitiveness and jobs stand still.
- Nigeria needs one consistent yardstick to track progress across structure, capability and inclusion.
- Seeing which pillars advance and which slip shows policymakers where reform effort matters most.
